Tübingen

In partnership with Dornahof association

With the program A House is A Home, the mission of Somfy’s Foundation and Somfy Germany was to extend and renovate the emergency shelter of the Dornahof association in Tübingen to safely house women in difficulties. Dornahof association helps women and men in difficulty by offering them a roof over their heads and support.

A support center for women

The Tübingen emergency shelter takes in people without access to housing or those living rough

People staying at the emergency shelter in Tübingen get somewhere warm and dry to sleep, and the possibility to take a shower and wash their clothes. The association also provides food and clothes for those in need. The center also helps its visitors find accommodation and work, helps them with administrative formalities, and helps them find their place in society.

After this renovation, women have now a place to rest in a welcoming atmosphere.

COMMITMENT

SOMFY GERMANY

"Somfy GmbH had been involved in charitable actions for some time but back in 2015 we decided that instead of giving end-of-year gifts to our clients, we would follow the lead of the Somfy Foundation and support a project to renovate a women's shelter in Tübingen by donating €15,000 (photos and a short text are available if required). We want to build on this action in 2016 (still looking for projects)... and we are thinking about how we can get our employees involved (probably by adapting the "Un Temps pour les Autres" initiative to the local context)."

WHONUNGSLOSENHILFE CENTER

“We found a building in the town of Tübingen in Schleifmühlenweg 16. where the ground floor will be a center dedicated to women. Men and women can have in common the following problems: no housing, no shelter, no family relations, difficulties managing money, problems with the authorities, excessive consumption of alcohol, Psychological problems etc. However, women are more vulnerable to violence and sexual assaults. So we work with them to help them and unconditionally welcome and house them when they are faced with difficult times.”
